Beautiful tropical flowers are stunning in their beautiful and shocking tropical hues. All the intense and unreal color combinations just make you stop and admire these exotic beauties…and wonder if these are real?
I wanted to do a study of what they would look like photographed in black and white. The answer is just plain stunning!
A beautiful vireya bloom.
Heavenly scented plumeria.
An intimate detail of a hibiscus.
Brownea Kewensis instead of its shocking red/orange crown.
Vireya Aravir
White Calliandra bloom.

Wow...your photos are so beautyful!! Very nice in black and white! / Irene
Lovely pictures. In black and white the shape of the flower becomes more distinctive. Fascinating!
So beautiful... that vireya with its overlapping petals and intricate dance of sun and shadows makes me want to get out my sketchbook and pencils. :)
Noel, Wow! These are stunning! The black and white really focuses a viewer's attention on the wonderful form of these flowers. Printed out and framed, they would make a wonderful art display on someone's wall. -Jean
I've always loved black and white photography. The Plumeria is stunning, and the Vireya has an almost ethereal and luminescent quality. Beautiful photographs.
Hello Noel,
You really notice the light and how it plays upon the petals. Just beautiful!
Love your photos. They are all pretty...4 and 6 are my favorite!
Your pictures are awesome! The last one is my favorite.
Dear Noel, These photographs are simply wonderful and a great credit to your imagination, flair, artistry and photographic skill. Additionally, they make a most interesting change from the many very beautiful colour images one sees. So VERY stylish!
So very pretty & I love the clean scent of plumeria!
My, my! Lovely photos!
Great photos! I love the vireya and calliandra most.
I've enjoyed finding your blog after you visited mine.
As another commenter mentioned sharing these in black and white really makes you appreciate the beautiful shape of each flower.
Gorgeous photos! I've always been a fan of B/W. Nicely displayed!
I have not ever thought to do this: display the flowers in black and white. But what a wonderful idea! These are simply beautiful!

The black and white pictures are so dramatic! I enjoyed your post and your last one too! Have a great weekend!
Nice photos Noel :) The first one looks translucent and delicate (my fav.)
Hope u are having a nice weekend, Ev
Love the study of light and shadow in black and white photos, Noel, and these are amazing. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Hi Noel, As a color fanatic, I really miss the full spectrum, however I will say that the contrast on the puffy calliandra and fiber optical sputnik of Brownea are amazing.
I especially like the first picture -- the light and shade really shows up beautifully.
Here you take us to art... I am speechless! Brava Noel!
OMG what a fantastic post! I have never thought to view my flowers in black and white! these are gorgeous! thanks for sharing today...and I do hope you will join again!
Amazing, stunning, beautiful, wonderful. I love your photos. thank you for sharing. Have a nice week end!
So flowers are really beautiful, even when the colours are missing!! ~bangchik
Such a successful experiment ! Instead of being 'misslead' by the colours you show us the beauty of their shapes. Really lovely photoes :)
I like your black and white photos a lot!
What a variety of plants you must have in your climate! Your photos are beautiful, and I enjoy black and whites for a different take on things. The textures seem to pop in a new way when seen without the color.
Lovely fotos and flowers, different from the flowers we have here in Sweden. Just now we only have "isroses" :)
Have a nice weekend :)
Wow, your pics are amazing. I imagined Hawaii to be tropical so warm all year around, no frosts in winter and drought in the summer like we have to handle here.
Hey Noel my fellow rock collector (tho I can't ship any of my rocks to your place!) thats fantastic seeing those pictures in black in white as I have seen the coloured versions earlier this week - looks quite amazing - I am going to head into picasa and see what a little bnw looks like with some of mine too.
I love the B&W!

Who would have thought...... thanks for sharing something a little different! wow - it really makes you focus on something other than the brilliant colour we have come to expect from tropical flowers.
beautiful photos thank you. www.shadesofgray.us
I like the sepia ones best.
