You've never smelled anything so intoxicating and sweet as a flower stand in Hawaii during the Merrie Monarch Festival. Its almost impossible to not stop by these amazing display's of color and dazzling combinations of leis on display.
Then you get hit with hints of exotic smells of plumeria, ginger and unusual fragrances that draw you in and welcome you....you must stop and look at these leis and see the loving hands that crafted each and everyone on of them.
You need to see and smell almost everyone before you decide which one will be perfect...
not an easy decision.
How about something exotic and blue like this blue lei made with many petals of the
blue jade vine, a rare beauty only to be seen at this beautiful festival of aloha.
Yes to receive a lei from someone special is a wonderful gift...but giving one away is even more true with the meaning of lei giving and sharing your aloha.

Those are gorgeous leis! It would be insanely hard to choose just one. Oh, how I love the smell of plumeria!
Oh Noel, those are gorgeous. Now, if you can just figure out a way to transmit their smell via the internet.
I can only imagine the beautiful fragrance...these look simply stunning!
Buttercup and I are in awe of those luscious flowers. Your photos were so fantastic, I kept wondering why I couldn't smell the flowers and pick up a lei.
Oh, how beautiful, Noel! I can almost smell their exotic fragrances from here... I want the orange and red and white one, I think, although that jade blue one is incredible. :)
I would want them all!!! It is cruel for me to choose just one :) All the flowers look so delicious and unique, and I almost can smell them through the screen...
Mmm, so luscious. Gorgeous. I can just imagine the scent. Thanks for sharing. Here, in the middle of the continent, I've never seen a real one.
They are all gorgeous. I would never be able to chose one. The one made from the Jade vine blooms is just so beautiful. She does have the touch in making beautiful leis.Wow.

How lucky you live in Hawaii with these wonderful things.
Have a nice weekend, Noel.
Greetings Noel, How I should love to receive a lei, so very, very pretty, exotic and perfumed too. What more could anyone ask for?
Have a very happy weekend.
that jade vine lei is amazing! Jade vine happens to be closely related to the sea bean I sprouted a couple years ago.
The leis are just beautiful, what an art! I've never been to Hawaii, but leis are one of the first things I associate with it. This was such an interesting and beautiful post.
How beautiful! Now if only I were there to smell them....
P.S. Do I see a brugmansia in your header?

Hello Noel,
I have always been fascinated by that tradition. I only hope to be able to receive and maybe give a lei someday. They are just beautiful.
G'Day, Aloha, What a fantastic thing you have to show us all this week All I can say is wow! I can smell those frangipani by just looking at them. Heavenly. I am loving that you share the tropical flowers you have in abundance here with us.
BeAuTiFuL! It would be hard to pick just one.
You Hawaiians know how to celebrate!
Absolutey stunning
They're beautiful.
Out of curiosity, what does something like that cost? I'm looking at the materials and all the hand-work, and imagining a high price for such an ephemeral thing.
We saw leis in a river, and then saw some notes indicating that they were part of a memorial service.
OMG, those are gorgeous. Such a personal touch knowing they are put together by hand. Matti
They are all so lovely, I would be hard pressed to choose just one.
I had no idea just how beautiful a Lei could be and how complex some of the designs are! Wonderful!
Gorgeous. How to choose? I like the jade vine one, because it is different and also my favorite color!
Aloha from Florida, Noel! I am amazed at the colors and beautiful designs. The scents must really be heavenly. I love the sentiment behind the gift of flowers too.
Aloha from Greece.
You got the most beautiful flowers and you make so many thinks. Well done.
Hi, Noel;
If only Google could invent a fragrance widget... :) These are beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful! Blue jade vine is special. I'll never forget how I saw it for the first time in my life in Kauai. THank you!
So beautiful, specially the jade vine... thanks for sharing!
Hi Noel, i am back. I just would like to say that the jade vine is endemic to the Philippines. I dont know who carried it to Hawaii, maybe the Ilocanos who migrated in bulk, no offense meant, hahaha. I also love to see the Pinoy houses there, which cannot be ignored, because they have a malunggay tree at the corner of the property, a big reveal.
