Looks a bit like a view North from one of our Lanais. We call that effect, a reverse sunset. It happens most in the winter when the sun is at an angle where the Mountain does not block it.

Gorgeous skies. I cannot wait to visit Hawaii. I think this is the year that we will be able to make it (my first time). We have a friend who lives on Kauai which I believe is the garden island.
Hi Noel~~ As a kid, the Hamakua coast with it's incredibly steep drop-offs would terrify me. I remember the three "gulches" where the highway, embedded within the cliff, formed a huge U as it went north. I would beg my mother to take Saddle Road to Kailua instead. Your photos depict the beauty that only a non-anxiety prone adult can appreciate. Lovely.
