Hi Noel~~ It seems like everyone has been on a blog makeover mission lately. Isn't it fun? Yours is outstanding. Some of your WW photos are of Banyan trees, aren't they? They're so intriguing.
You live in Orchidland subdivision, is that right? For some reason I had it in my head that Orchidland fell victim to Pele's wrath. I must be confused. I scrolled down to the Pahoa parade. Cute kiddos and I love how you captured the little nose picker!! I can see that you've got a sense of humor. We're gonna get along fine!!
I went to school in Pahoa from 1970 to 1974. I have to say that my memories are not all that pleasant. At that time "haoles" were the minority and treated with scathing disdain. You know how heartless kids can be. I wonder if things have improved over the years. I lived in HPP on 31st Avenue off Makuu Drive. A humble place since my mother was divorced with three kids. Money was scarce. My grandmother, [my mom's mom] lived on 14th Ave. off Makuu until moving to Bayshore towers right after it was built in circa 72, I'm guessing.
My most pleasant memory of Hawaii is the flowers, specifically the Plumeria. The scent is pure ambrosia! Try as I might, I just can't get my honeysuckle to replicate it. :)
We're having record low temperatures right now. It's supposed to be 10 degrees tonight. I'm sure I'll have plant casualties.

aloha Grace, orchidland is still tropical with lots of wild orchids everywhere...things are more well integrated here and all mixed up so life is good for everyone...except that gas prices are really expensive here....at least i grow alot of my own things...sending you warms thoughs on my next blog :)
